Mine coltan is usually transported by truck to the processing plant and thrown into the bin. The feeder or screen separates the larger pebble from the finer rock that does not need to be broken once, thereby reducing the load on the primary crusher. Rake, impact or rotary crushers are commonly used for initial reduction. The crusher products are typically 7.5 to 30 cm (3 to 12 inches) in diameter, and the ash trough (small size material) is discharged onto the belt conveyor and is usually transported to a surge stack for temporary storage or as a rough sale.

In the tantalite beneficiation production process plant, for example, tantalite ore is up graded to higher content through concentration. Tantalite ore is beneficiated to all around the world to meet the quality requirement of large steel industries. Several technologies are available such as washing, jigging, magnetic separation; advance gravity separation and flotation are being employed to enhance the quantity of the iron ore. Recent increase in demand for steel and increase in its costs has boosted up the production of iron and steel. The demand for tantalite ore also has sharply increased. The good quality tantalite is fast depleting thereby forcing the iron makers to use low grade one after beneficiation.

Techniques for processing tantalum-niobium ore

Generally, in the first step, we adopt gravity concentration to dispose of most gangue minerals to get low grade mixed ores. In the process of concentrating ores, the separation can be very difficult due to the complicated composition of the mixture that contains various kinds of useful minerals. There are many ways to process tantalum-niobium ores, including gravity concentration, flotation, electromagnetic separation or dressing-metallurgy combining technique. We can utilize one or more of these techniques to separate the minerals.

Gravity concentration is often used in roughing separation of tantalum-niobium ores. And in the concentrating of ores, we often adopt gravity concentration, flotation, electromagnetic separation or dressing-metallurgy combining process.
